In “My Turn” deluxe edition Lil baby adds 6 new tracks to an already packed album. In just three years, he has been able to put out eight projects and it’s pretty clear he is putting all his new time in the limelight on trying to advance his career.
My Turn is an album showcasing his artistic growth though it does not feel extremely polished as it should the songs are pop-rap hits. The added six tracks on the deluxe version still deliver in that trope delivering more bangers to the table
Particularly “Social Distancing” stands out. It’s one of the best of the new 6 songs added. He uses the circumstances of quarantine to drop metaphors comparing his social distancing to being better than most of the rappers in the game.
“Humble” is another highlight of the new release as he gets reflective. He ponders about how he would see women if he did not have a daughter, his friend trying to set him up and if his girl meant it when she said she shouldn’t have kept his child. It’s an introspective song and adds more depth to the release and also some lackluster features in the original redeem themselves which is cool to see.
All in all, there is not much to say about the deluxe version it solidifies his hit-making confidence on the charts. Even after the release, he made a socially aware track lending his voice to the police brutality against African Americans in American showing that he can still be socially conscious to serious happenings.
He is definitely at the forefront of the new generation of rappers and the deluxe edition of My turn will be more than enough for his fans. The album is a 7/10.
